Owen County’s Jarrod Ball was recently selected to play in the Kentucky High School Coaches Association East/West All-Star Game.
Ball, who just wrapped up his junior year with the Rebels, was selected by the Eighth Region coaches to represent the West team. The squad was made up from players from the Region 1 through 8.
Ball said just being named to the team was a special feeling.
“It was a huge honor being selected to represent the Eighth Region in this event,” Ball said.
The game was played June 18 at Pleasure Ridge Park High School in Louisville. The day began with a camp for the 42 players to showcase their skills followed by a pair of games. Over the course of the two games, Ball played shortstop, second base and left field. He went 2-4 at the plate as the West won twice.
Ball said the day was a measuring stick for his own game.
“Playing against other top players in the state allowed me to see where I stood as a ballplayer.,” Ball said.
While playing in the game was a huge honor, Ball said the best part of the experience was being able to represent his hometown.
“At the end of the day, it wasn’t about the game or what I did but the honor of representing Owen County on and off Dunavent Field,” Ball said.
