OCHS class of 1964 plans reunion

-A A +A

From near and far, former classmates of Owen County High will come together once again in Owenton on April 12 when the school’s class of 1964 holds their 50th anniversary class reunion in the Owen County Extension Service’s community room at 357 Ellis Road. The class’s last reunion was held in September 2004.
Several of the class members began planning the event during the high school’s homecoming weekend last October and a concerted effort has been made to locate and notify all class members of the reunion date via postal mail, telephone, email, and Facebook posts.
The class of ’64, most of whom were born in 1945 and 1946, were the first and one of the largest senior classes of the baby boom era with 102 students graduating from Owen County High that year.
Class members arriving from out-of-town early in the day on April 12, as well as those already living in Owen County, are encouraged to come by The Smith House restaurant at 1640 Hwy 22 for an impromptu lunch around 12:30 or 1 p.m. to have an opportunity to spend some extra time catching up and getting reacquainted with fellow classmates since they last saw them.
Evening activities will start with a meet and mingle opportunity at 6 p.m. at the extension service building followed by the reunion banquet catered by Ricky and Cindy Wilhoite of Owenton at 7 p.m.
After-dinner activities will include a memorial to those class members who have passed away, recognition of former teachers who have been invited to attend, and entertainment by professional ventriloquist Janie Jett-Mason.
Class members that may not have received a notification of the reunion due to address changes, etc. should call Jim Mason at 270-315-8292 or Verna Stewart at 502-693-6911 for additional information.
