The Owen County High School boys golf team hosted the NCKC Tournament last week. The Rebels would fall two shots shy of claiming the title.
As a team, the Rebels posted a 326 while Walton-Verona was just a little better as they fired a 324 to win.
Owen County had three golfers finish in the top five. Justin Trusty was second with a 78; Austin Fitzgerald was third with a 79; and Jordan Prather was fifth with an 81. Matt Atkins and Cole Hamilton tied for 15th as they each shot 88.
The Rebels were in action on Monday as they played in the Seventh Region Tournament at Boone Links in Florence.
Owen County High School Head Golf Coach Kevin Webster said he was hoping his young team could finish the year strong.
“We are still young but we have been playing well,” said Webster. “We are hoping we can get a top eight finish.”
Covington Catholic won the Seventh Region championship last season while Ryle finished second.
