A sign located at the corner of Main and North Madison Street advertising Family Billiards Restaurant could soon be moved after a recent Owenton City Council meeting.
Mike McDonald, a part owner of McDonald and New Funeral Home, said that certain city regulations prohibit the sign from being placed where it currently sits near McDonald and New’s Main Street location.
“I have no problem with the sign,” McDonald said. “(Family Billiards) spent good money on it, but it’s right up against our property line and it’s in black and white that that can’t be done.”
Alfred Arrowood, who operates Family Billiards Restaurant, along with his wife Shawna, also attended the meeting.
The City of Owenton issued Arrowood a permit for the sign.
The issue is expected to be taken before the city’s variance board at a later date.
In other action, the council voted to place two street lights on Progress Way.
The street lights will cost the city a total of $13.04 a month.
The next regular meeting of the Owenton City Council will be held Monday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m.
The council chose to reschedule its regular meeting date for November due to the general election Nov. 6.a
