Kindergarten to fifth-grade girls in Owen County are invited to take part in a free program sponsored by the Girl Scouts of America and the Owen County Public Library.

The 2010 Girl Scout “It’s a Girl’s Life” program will be offered during four consecutive Tuesdays (July 6-27) from 9:30-11 a.m. at the library.

Girls will have the opportunity to learn about Girl Scouting, make crafts, play games and hopefully make some new friends.

Each week of the “It’s a Girl’s Life” Program has its own theme:

• Week 1: Beach Fun

• Week 2: Space Spectacular!

• Week 3: Make New Friends

• Week 4: Under the Sea

The program is open to all area girls but was designed to meet the needs of the numerous girls who were unable to participate in traditional troops this past school year.

Registrations will be accepted up to the start date and can be obtained at the Owen County Library or by contacting Girl Scout Membership Specialist, Meghan Schneeman: (859) 342-6263 or mschneeman@gswrc.org. Completed registrations should be returned to the library.

Currently, the Girl Scouts in Owen County don’t have the sufficient number of volunteers to serve all interested girls and didn’t want all those girls to completely miss out on the Girl Scout experience.

Even if you don’t have a daughter or she can’t attend the program, organizers urge women to feel free to stop by and learn more about how to get involved in Girl Scouting as an adult leader.
