After over a year since the first discussion on a transient room tax, the Owen County Fiscal Court recently held a second reading on an ordinance and put the tax into place.
The passing of the ordinance means a 3-percent tax will be charged for anyone renting a place to sleep in Owen County.
According to the ordinance, the tax would include motor courts, motels, hotels, inns or similar accommodations. Owen County Judge-executive Carolyn Keith said the ordinance would also include campgrounds.
