New Columbus Baptist

-A A +A

Sunday was indeed a special time at our church. We had our traditional fifth-Sunday meal following the morning worship.
Pastor Brad Vincent used Isaiah 6:8-13 as text for his message titled “The Blinding Power of the Gospel” as he defined how the prophet Isaiah warned the Israelites repeatedly of their need to repent and change their lifestyles before forewarning them of their ultimate destiny.
We regrouped at 3 p.m. and enjoyed the film presentation Bro. Brad had assembled of his trip last week to Haiti on a medical mission visit. Bro. Brad was part of a medical mission team which included Amanda Borchers of our church family as they and many others journeyed to Ouanaminthe, Haiti, to volunteer their services at a clinic in that city.
The photos Bro. Brad showed certainly reinforce how the Lord has so blessed our country with a stable government as well as abundant natural resources.
Bro. Brad’s message Sunday is titled “The Perfect Sign” and will be from Isaiah 7:14. In this text, Isaiah tells King Ahaz where hope for the future can be found, even with imminent destruction looming. Since the foundation of the world, man has needed a savior, and today, as in the days of Ahaz and Isaiah, Jesus is still our only hope.
The New Columbus Community 4-H Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the fellowship hall. Our traditional Valentine banquet will be at 6 p.m. Feb. 11.
We have a deacon ordination service scheduled for 3 p.m. Feb. 13 at which we will ordain Clinton House and Tommy Scott as deacons of our church. All ordained pastors and men are invited to attend this special event.
Our snow tubing trip was postponed until Feb. 19, when we will be leaving the church at 3 p.m.
