Neeley breaks single-season scoring record

The Bowling Middle School eighth-grade girls hosted Carroll County Thursday night. The Lady Rebels rolled to a 52-16 win over the Lady Panthers.

During the second half of the game, Hannah Neeley broke the single-season scoring record by scoring her 266th point on the year.

Neeley breaks the previous record of 265 set by Rianna Gayheart.

The eighth grader finished the game with 16 points to give her a total of 269 for the year.

Neeley is not finished setting the record as BMS hosted Walton-Verona in the final game of the season.

Neeley finished second on the all-time scoring list. Gayheart scored 702 points in her three seasons at BMS.

Neeley finished ahead of Kelsey Williams, who scored 614 points, and Shea Green, who totaled 568 in her three years. Katie Smith finished her career with 518 points while only playing two seasons.

As for the game against Carroll County, the Lady Rebels jumped out to a 7-0 lead and never looked back. They led 22-6 at the half.

Along with Neeley, Andi Wash had 10 points while Katelyn Sutherland finished the night with nine points. Courtney Waldrop had six points to go along Julie Spaulding and Lynsey Farrar who each scored four. Madison Gamble finished the game with three points.
