With the help of the National Guard, the Owen County Sheriff’s Office recently located and destroyed approximately $1.5 million worth of marijuana plants.
Owen County Sheriff Zemer Hammond said the plants were located Aug. 22 when three National Guard helicopters flew around the county, while sheriff’s deputies worked on the ground.
Hammond said some plants were found on Stewart Ridge Road, some on Breck Road, but the largest amount was found in the New Columbus area.
