The City of Owenton recently entered into a statewide emergency management mutual aid and assistance agreement.
The council approved the agreement at its April 5 meeting.
The agreement authorizes Owenton Mayor Doug West and Emergency Management Director Rick Morgan to request, offer or provide aid and assistance on behalf of the City of Owenton.
The city was also approved to create an account for the state fire aid.
The money saved will go toward the purchase of a new fire truck for the city.
The council amended its 2010-11 budget to include surplus funds for blacktopping.
West said there are several streets in Owenton that will see blacktopping this summer, although, the final decision on which streets will get renovated has not been made.
The council appointed Josh Willoughby, Darrell Hearne and Rita Osborne to the Owenton Housing Authority Commission.
Rex Stivers, Hearne and Osborne were appointed to the board of adjustments.
Stivers and Hearne were appointed to the city’s planning commission and Hearne was also appointed to the water and sewer commission.
The council is expected to hold a budget workshop within the next month.
