Monterey resident to take part in Frankfort art fair

Dara Carlisle from Monterey will participate in the second annual Art in the Gardens at Liberty Hall fair on Labor Day weekend, Aug.31 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sept. 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Carlisle will join over 50 juried artists and craftspeople who will be selling their works in tents scattered throughout the four-acre garden at the Liberty Hall Historic Site on the Kentucky River in downtown Frankfort, 202 Wilkinson Street Admission is $3 each day.
Carlisle began her art career as a candle maker. In recent years, she has expanded from hand-dipped candles to wool felt rugs and colorful silk   scarves.
Throughout the two-day event, visitors will browse booths that offer items as diverse as intricate scrimshaw designs, metal sculptures, wooden pocket watches, ornate glass objects, oil paintings, and hand painted silk ties.
Also on tap will be live music, children’s art activities, open houses at Liberty Hall and the adjacent Orlando Brown house, food vendors, and downtown  Frankfort events.
