As you are all well aware of by now, the 127 yard sales were off and running this past weekend.

I ended up stopping at a few on my way in on Friday. My first stop was at Colleen’s house. There I saw several familiar faces, some of which I hadn’t seen in quite awhile, including Linda Alexander.

Since seeing her last, she’s been blessed with two beautiful grandchildren. She and I worked together years ago at Fruit of the Loom. I saw her in January at my mom’s funeral but we didn’t get a chance to visit with each other very long. It was really nice seeing you, Linda, and so glad we had a chance to get caught up a bit with one another.

While I was there, I also saw my cousin from Frankfort, Robin Rearden, who was set up for business there.

My next stop was Billy Joe and Melinda’s (Giles) yard sale. I finally got a chance to stop and visit with them awhile and also received a tour of their new home as well. It was my first time getting to see it since they built back. It is a very beautiful and very nicely decorated home, very welcoming. Thanks, guys, for the tour and the short visit as well.

My friend Laurie came down Saturday morning (with breakfast I might add), and she and I went to several more yard sales. We get together for this every year. We usually start in Monterey and head south. This year, we decided to go north. We made it as far as Handball’s before turning around and headed back toward Frankfort and Lawrenceburg. We had a very good time as well and saw many people we both knew.

Lee doesn’t normally care anything about going but opted to go to a few more with me Sunday. We headed north and made it as far Glencoe before getting a phone call from our neighbor, Sherry.

She called and asked if I knew someone named Crysta. I stopped dead in my tracks and I told her yes, that I once had a friend that I grew up with named Crysta but I had not seen her in about 25 years or longer. Her parents used to own the restaurant in Monterey.

Sherry said Crysta was in town and wanted to see me.

Seems Crysta had flown in to meet up with her sister and brother-in-law, Cindy and Rick Collins. They had came in from Florida for their nephew’s wedding and were going on to Michigan to visit with Cindy and Crysta’s family. Crysta met them here so she could try to reunite with some old friends. They were going on to Stamping Ground that afternoon to visit with some of Rick’s family.

Crysta had gotten my number from Sherry and told her that she would call back once they got to Stamping Ground. I knew exactly where to go once Crysta called back. She was at Janie and Mike Collins’ house.

Janie Belle is also from Monterey and is a sister to Shirley Ballard. That’s how Crysta found me to begin with. Janie had told her that I had bought Johnny and Shirley’s old house.

We had a great visit.

Later that day, Crysta and I came back to Monterey so she could see the house and restaurant were she grew up.

I hope they all have a safe trip to Michigan and have a wonderful reunion with their family. May you all return home safely. Hopefully, we’ll all keep in touch with one another from here on out.

That’s about it for this time. Hopefully 127 will get back to normal again and everyone will be happy.

Until next time, be safe and please continue to keep all our sick in your thoughts.
