First of all, I have a correction to make. In last week’s column I wrote that Colleen was going to skip the month of July for having another Monterey Fair Board Meeting and was going to have it Aug. 19. That was incorrect; the new date for the next fair meeting is Aug. 21 at 11. Sorry for the confusion this may have caused anyone. Hope to see more there than last time.
I recently received some news from Jesse Smoot. He, Joseph Wallace and Bonnie Keith just returned home from a vacation to Lexington, Va. He said they all had a wonderful time. He and Bonnie searched for antiques, while Joseph spent most of his time at the pool. He wishes to thank his brother-in-law, Steve Hawkins, for looking after their farm while they were away.
I recently saw some pictures on Sheila’s Facebook page where she and Theresa went up to see their grandmother, Eva Mae Giles, on Friday for her 100th birthday. Theresa said they had a great turnout but missed seeing one of their cousins, Clara. Glad you had a great birthday, Eva Mae, and wishing you many more to come. I believe this is the only person I have ever known to have made it to 100. You look very well, Eva.
Speaking of birthdays, Ray and I will be celebrating our birthdays next Monday. Happy early birthday, big brother, and may you have many more to come. Lee always throws a party for me – usually the Saturday before the fact. So he has planned one for this Saturday. I am so looking forward to seeing all my friends and family here. Lee has also been wanting to extend our deck out for some time now and has finally started it. It should be finished by Saturday.
On Sunday, my friend Laurie and I had planned on going to the Richwood Flea Market. By the time we got back, he had already gotten a whole lot of it finished. He never seems to let anything slow him down. Once he gets something in his mind, he takes off with it. Thanks, Lee, for all you do for me and also all you do to help my family.
Evelyn stopped by Sunday afternoon, showing us some pictures of some remodeling that she and Glenn have been doing to their house. Seems Lee isn’t the only one working hard these days. From the looks of the pictures, Glenn has been really busy as well. Thanks for stopping by, Evelyn; we really enjoyed your visit.
That’s about all I have for this week. Until next time, be safe and please continue to keep all our sick in your thoughts and prayers.
