I hope each and everyone had a wonderful Labor Day Weekend and had the opportunity to spend some quality time with your families.
Lori (Smoot) Onan has recently (at least temporarily) returned back to work after being off for the last couple of weeks.
Lori was involved in a very bad car accident back in July. As she was traveling to work one morning down the East –West Connector in Frankfort, a vehicle came out of nowhere and collided into her car sending her skidding down the road for some distance. She seems to be doing okay lately but is by no means completely healed yet. Lori is a former Owen countian and is also the owner and operator of a beauty shop in Frankfort (Classic Hair and Nail Design) where I work part time in the evenings.
I’d like to wish Lori a speedy recovery and pray that she continues to improve daily.
I’ve also been meaning to send out a big thank you to Michelle Eckart for all the hard work and efforts she put into organizing our recent class reunion a few weeks ago.
Michelle, as always, you did a wonderful job. Even though there weren’t very many of us that showed up, the ones of us that did had an excellent time and just wanted you to know that we appreciate everything you do in putting these reunions together for us.
I personally can’t wait until the next one. Thanks again Michelle for all you do.
Tammy Powers has recently contacted me to ask that I pass along some news for her on behalf of her and the community. Tammy wishes to thank the Owen County Parks and Recreation for a new addition. Recently a used slide was donated to us for the playground at the Monterey Park. Tammy would like to thank all of those that have been working so hard on getting this set up for the community. She wishes to thank Mike Raisor for his time and for bringing his backhoe down for the ground work and lifting. Tammy would also like to thank Charlie Simmons, Jimmy Powers, Randy Fitzgerald and Dennis Atha for all their time and hard work. As well as Billy Harmon for his time and getting IMI to bring in the concrete for this. Also Tammy wishes to thank Danny Wright for the delivery and pouring of the concrete and a big thanks to IMI for donating the concrete.
Tammy said she just wants everyone involved to know how grateful she is for all the hard work and efforts that was put into giving an old slide a new home. Tammy says hopefully it will be ready for the kiddos to play on soon. She said there are still just a few minor things that still need to be completed.
Thank you Tammy, for sharing this news with us. I would also be happy to pass along any news for any of you. Please contact me and I will get any news in for you.
Colleen has recently held another Monterey Fair Board Meeting, however I was unable to attend this one.
Hopefully, I can speak to Colleen soon and have a little more info concerning the upcoming fair to share with you.
I suppose that’s it for this week.
Until we meet again, God bless, be safe and please continue to keep all our sick in your thoughts and prayers.
