The Maurice Bowling Middle School Rebels are not just beating people on the football field - they are dominating.
In the last two weeks, the Rebels have played two games that have not been close. They defeated Gallatin County 48-0 and Frankfort 36-6.
Against Gallatin County, the Rebels got off to a fast start when Nolan Tackett connected with Patrick Osborne for a 40-yard touchdown. Austin Riggs made good on the 2-point conversion put MBMS on top 8-0 before the crowd had settled into the bleachers.
Later in the first quarter, Riggs would score on a three-yard touchdown run. Tackett would find Ross Ford on the two-point conversion to put the Rebels on top 16-0 in the first quarter. The Rebels would add more points in the second quarter on a touchdown by Osborne and 2-point conversion by Josh Payton. Tackett would also toss a five-yard touchdown to J.J. Smith capped off by Riggs taking in another two-point conversion to give MBMS a 32-0 halftime lead.
Blake Duncan would score in the third quarter to make it 40-0 and Greg Taylor would add another touchdown in the fourth quarter when they scored from six-yards out. Kirby Young would add the 2-point conversion to make the final score 48-0.
The Rebels would begin their game with Frankfort the same way they did against Gallatin County.
Tackett and Osborne would connect for a 65-yard touchdown pass on the first play of the game. Riggs would convert the 2-point conversion and the Rebels led 8-0.
Minutes later, Osborne would return a punt to the 2-yard line where Payton would take it into the end zone for the score to make the score 14-0.
The Rebels would close out the quarter with another score. This time, Tackett would hook up with Smith for a 30-yard touchdown. Riggs would add another 2-point conversion make the score 22-0 at the end of the first quarter.
The score would remain the same into the third quarter before Frankfort scored to make it 22-6. Osborne would take the ensuing kickoff and return it the 15-yard line. MBMS would convert when Tackett plunged into the end zone from 1-yard out to make it 28-6.
In the fourth quarter, Andrew Banks would sack the Frankfort quarterback in the end zone for a safety making it 30-6 before Greg Taylor scored on a 15-yard touchdown run to make the final magin 36-6.
The two wins improve the Rebels to 4-0 on the season.
