Owen County Schools is pleased to announce Tracy McMillian has been chosen as the volunteer of the month for March.

McMillian was nominated for this award by Mary Inman, a third-grade teacher at Owen County Elementary.

“Tracy McMillian has been a volunteer in my classroom this school year as well as three years ago when I had her oldest daughter in class,” Inman said. “Tracy goes above and beyond what is asked of her no matter how small or in depth the task, Tracy gives 100 percent.  She is willing to do everything from copying to working with children. She has been an asset to my students as well as myself.”

McMillian has been a dedicated volunteer for the past four years.  She started in the primary school and as her children got older, she moved on to the elementary school as well as the middle school where she not only works as a classroom volunteer but also serves as a parent representative on the site-based decision making council.

“I love volunteering because I love making a difference and impacting children’s lives,” McMillian said when asked why she devotes so much of her time volunteering.

McMillian and her husband Tim live in Corinth and have been married for 15 1/2 years.  They have two daughters –  Jordin, who is in the sixth grade, and Raven, who is in the third grade.
