Victory keeps young Rebels perfect

The Maurice Bowling Middle School football team is making a habit of winning. The Rebels were in action Sept. 11 and defeated Summit View 34-12. The win improved the team to 5-0.
The Rebels got on the board first in the opening quarter when MBMS took the opening kickoff and marched the ball to the four-yard line where Michael Thorton took it in for the score.
After a failed extra point, the Rebels had the early 6-0 lead.
After the defense forced a punt on Summit View’s opening drive, the Rebels again moved the ball down the field before Patrick Osborne scored from 10-yards out.
Nolan Tackett and Ross Ford connected for the 2-point conversion giving MBMS a 14-0 lead early in the second quarter.
The Rebels would add to the lead later in the quarter when Tackett tossed a 15-yard touchdown pass to Dominick Barnett to make the score 20-0.
Summit View would get on the board before seconds before halftime cutting the lead to 20-8.
The MBMS defense would begin the third quarter by forcing Summit View to punt.
Thorton and Austin Riggs had big runs on the ensuing drive to put the Rebels deep into Summit View territory before Osborne would score on an eight-yard run.
Tackett would run in the2-point conversion to push the advantage to 28-8.
Summit View would score to begin the fourth quarter but the Rebels quickly responded when Thorton scampered 55 yards for a touchdown to make the final score 34-12.
The MBMS ‘B” team was also in action on Tuesday night. Summit View won that defensive struggle 6-0.
