The Maurice Bowling Middle School football team is off to a 2-0 start to begin the season. The team beat East Oldham in the opener before defeating Henry County last Thursday at Patterson Field.
Against East Oldham, the Rebels fell behind 8-0 before MBMS answered with a long drive that ended with a short touchdown run by Austin Riggs. Nolan Tackett and Ross Ford connected for the 2-point conversion to tie the game at 8-8.
The Rebels would take the lead in the third quarter when Tackett found Ross Ford for a five-yard touchdown completion. Tackett then ran in the 2-point conversion to give his team the 16-8 lead.
The defense would do the rest as the Rebels held on for the 16-8 win.
On Aug. 23, the Rebels hosted the Wildcats from Henry County.
MBMS would jump to an early lead when Tackett tossed a 15-yard touchdown pass to Ford. Patrick Osborne added to the lead with a 2-yard touchdown run.
Osborne would score again on the final play of the first half when he and Tackett connected on a long TD pass to lead 20-0 at intermission.
After Henry County scored early in the second half the Rebels capped off the scoring when Osborne took the pitch and then threw a touchdown to Ford who made a great acrobatic catch in the end zone. When the final buzzer sounded, the Rebels had claimed the 28-6 victory.
The Rebels will be back in action Thursday night at home against Gallatin County.
