A 76-year-old Owenton man has been charged with two counts of second-degree cruelty to animals and two counts of third-degree criminal mischief after a criminal complaint was filed in October.
According to the complaint, Samuel H. Riley, subjected two cats to “injurious mistreatment” by shooting them with a .22 rifle on two separate dates.
The cats were the property of Diana and Ted Seaman.
The shooting caused one of the cats to have its leg amputated and the other suffered a shattered jaw.
