Making Gaines: Former assistant principal ready to make a mark at MBMS

-A A +A
By Molly Haines

When Maurice Bowling Middle School students return to school next month, a familiar face will be in charge.
Donette Gaines, who served as MBMS assistant principal for the 2012-13 school year, was recently hired to take over as principal.
Gaines will be the school’s second principal after longtime principal Jo Ella Wallace’s retirement became official June 30. Wallace had led the school since it opened in the winter of 1985.
Prior to her tenure as assistant principal, Gaines taught sixth grade at MBMS for 11 years.
