Local residents graduate from Centre College

Two local students graduated from Centre College during the 188th commencement ceremony held at the college’s Norton Center for the Arts May 22.
• Mary Takhtjian of New Liberty earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science. She is the daughter of George and Aro Takhtjian of New Liberty and is a graduate of Owen County High School.
• Brice Hamilton of Sparta earned bachelor’s degrees in chemical physics and physics, and graduated cum laude. He also received The Marshall Wilt Physics Prize. He is the son of Colin and Sherry Hamilton of Sparta and is a graduate of Owen County High School.
The commencement speakers were Dr. Lee T. Todd, president of the University of Kentucky, and Dr. T. Pearse Lyons, founder and CEO of Alltech. Both received an honorary doctor of humane letters degree from Centre during the ceremony.
