Local police get Humvee

-A A +A

The Owenton Police Department recently acquired a High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle or Humvee for use by the department. The vehicle was acquired through a government surplus program which reutilizes military equipment to different law-enforcement agencies at no cost.  Owenton Police Officer Gary Alcorn has been doing the paperwork since late last year and it was signed  off by Owenton Police Chief Terry Gentry.  The vehicle will be used for marijuana eradication, inclement-weather patrol and emergency response in the winter  months. The department is hoping to get another one in the future. The department will equip the vehicle with a radio, siren and lights.
