Letter to the editor: Yard sale helps make lasting friends

-A A +A

My husband and I have just completed our seventh year of traveling to Owenton from our home state of Wisconsin, to set up and sell antiques and collectibles on the Hwy. 127 yard sale.
We want everyone to know just how much we love coming down each year to your beautiful state and reconnecting with our Kentucky “family” in Owen and Gallatin counties.
While we initially came all those years ago to sell some of our collections of stuff, we found lasting friendships, and now look forward to the sale with much anticipation each year so that we can sit down with our friends and joke, laugh, and just enjoy each other’s company. We have been welcomed into their homes and hearts and we are thankful for their many kindnesses, we have truly become family to each other.
This is southern hospitality at its very best and we wish everyone could experience it.
Our special thanks go out to Debbie and Doug Johnson, Speedy, Jeff Jarrett, Bones, Linda and Richard Johnson, Lois, Steve, Elizabeth Prewitt, Casey and Shannon Pierson, Rex and his wife, Judy, Pat and Shelby, and so many others.
See you next year.
