Letter to the editor: Weak people don’t need additional temptation

-A A +A

I am writing this letter in response to a previous letter in the June 22 News-Herald.
While I realize that the people, not alcohol, cause problems, I feel that when you mix alcohol and human weakness, it creates a multitude of problems.
I came from a family of five children with an alcoholic father. As a result of this, each of the five children was raised by different families.
While people make the choice, the choice is easier to make when you don’t have a beer joint or package liquor store down the street.
I have been pastoring for the past 30 years and have seen first-hand the effect that drugs and alcohol have on children, finances and relationships. If you think for a moment that Owen County will benefit financially from the sale of alcohol, then you need to research the facts a little deeper.
I sincerely hope that the people of Owen County will see it for what it is and defeat it at the polls July 26, 2011.
