Letter to the editor: Travis Fitzgerald announces candidacy for magistrate

-A A +A

I, Travis Fitzgerald, am excited to be a candidate for fourth district magistrate and I hope I can earn your vote May 20.
My wife, Sherry Davis Fitzgerald, and I have been married for 11 years and we have two children, Blake and Callie. I decided to run for magistrate because I am motivated to help Owen County thrive and maintain the rural and small-town atmosphere for my children to enjoy. I am not affiliated with any other candidate, office holder, or business which gives me the ability to deliver an unbiased vote and an advantage over my opponents. I truly have the best interest of the community at heart; I have no personal/political agenda.
I am gainfully employed and will not need to take the county insurance (which I estimate will save the county nearly $26,000 over the course of four years).  I have been employed by the Frankfort Plant Board for almost 12 years and been in management for over nine years. I have a lot of experience with budgets: how they work, how they are constructed, and how they are maintained.
If elected I vow to keep a citizens first attitude. I believe that communication is the key to success in any good business. I will do my best to keep the lines of communication open in order to make informed decisions in fiscal court based on the views, needs and concerns of the citizens in the fourth district.  I will work hard to promote tourism in Owen County and collaborate with the sheriff’s department and city police to help address our drug problem.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this campaign so far as so many of you have opened your homes and shared your thoughts with me. I have learned so much already and I’m eager to knock on more doors. Please feel free to contact me Tfitzgerald4magistrate@gmail.com if you have any questions, concerns, or would like to meet with me. I encourage you all to attend our candidate forum at the Monterey Fire Department April 28 at 7 p.m.
