This Sunday, Aug. 11, the Owen County school system will honor a long-time valued educator as she retires.
Ms. Jo Wallace moved to Owen County to teach in the fall of 1970 and has made this community her home and its children her family. We would like to encourage all who have been touched by her 43 years of dedicated service to join us as we wish her well in her retirement.
The open house is from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at Maurice Bowling Middle School.
During this time, people can speak personally with Ms. Wallace, sign a guest book, write a personal card to her, see pictures from her four decades of service, and enjoy refreshments.
At 4 pm, a formal recognition ceremony will be held in the Jo Wallace gymnasium at MBMS.
Also, we realize many people have great stories about their times in Owen County schools under Ms. Wallace’s direction - as a teacher, coach, asst. principal, principal, or even as a boss. Please take a minute this week to post those memories on our Facebook page “Jo Wallace Retirement Committee.”
We intend to print them and have those available for people to read at the open house; then we’ll pass them along to Ms. Wallace.
Thanks, and we hope to see many former Owen County students at the reception on Aug, 11.
