Letter to the editor: Owen countians show their heart and support for history

-A A +A

I wish to thank Owen countians and people elsewhere, who have Owen County roots, for their enormous monetary contributions for the erection and dedication of the highway marker for “Karsner Airfield” and “H. Clark Karsner, Owner and Operator.”
The News-Herald paper dated Feb. 7, 1946 refers to Clark Karsner as having, “Brought aviation to Owen County” and the gospel message from his “gospel plane.” Bro. Lewis Arnold proclaimed the message.
The cost, $2,500 needed, was soon received from Owen countians over a period of three months – Oct.-Dec. 2011. No doubt people of Owen County have a heart for remembering history from the past, “Never letting their vision for the future dim their memory of the past.”
All are welcome to attend the dedication. Mark your calendars for May 26, 10 a.m. for the program.
The location is near the “Christ is the Answer” sign on Hwy. 127 at Old Cedar Baptist Church.
In case of rain, the dedication program will be in the Old Cedar Baptist Church. Then moving to the marker for the uncovering of the marker.
