Letter to the editor: Johnson’s help will be sorely missed

When I married Dennis Lafferty in 1970, I moved from Sparta to the “country.”

I did not know much about farming. My family had always  been in the grocery business, so all I knew was the farmer got paid once a year.

It was not long until I realized you could not make a farming decision until you contacted Jane Ann Johnson. Whatever Jane Ann told you was always just the way it was.

After Dennis’ death, she helped me with my corn base and with leasing my tobacco crop. I did not even know enough to ask the right questions. Then when I married Charlie Noel, we needed to contact Jane Ann again.

If you had a farming issue, she was always knowledgeable; but more than that, she was willing to help.

Jane Ann, Owen County will miss you and find it hard to fill your position.

Charlie and I wish you only the best in your retirement.

As farmers, we thank you for always being there to help.
