Recently I overheard a local gentleman advise his friend not to allow his children to “go too far to the left or too far to the right, but instead keep them in the middle.”
That, my friends, is what has happened in our country. Not willing to offend anyone we have become lukewarm middle of the road Christians.
Christ has a few words to say about lukewarm Christianity. “So, then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew you out of my mouth.” (Revelation 3:16)
Because we are lukewarm Christians, the government has taken control of our schools, banning the Bible and prayer from the classroom.
Because we are lukewarm Christians, we have elected representatives for their bright smiles and multitude of promises instead of voting for someone because of his/her honesty and moral character. Today instead of statesmen, we have politicians. My definition of politician is “poly” meaning many and “tick” which is a blood-sucking parasite. Very few statesmen remain in our country. Most of our representatives have mutated into blood-sucking politicians.
“My people are destroyed for the lack of knowledge.” (Hosea 4:6)
Many of our seminaries have turned out thousands of lukewarm pastors who water down God’s Word. They don’t instruct their flocks in God’s commandments and the need for repentance. Instead of preaching the whole Bible they pick a few Scriptures to tickle ears and cop out for a “feel good” Gospel.”
Because we are lukewarm Christians, we have allowed pagan religions to flourish in our country. “I, your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me.” (Deut. 5:9)
Christ said, “You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt loses its flavor how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men,” (Matthew 5:13).
Christian men and women - it’s time to pass the salt!
