Letter to the Editor: Bingham praises Owen County High’s Veterans Day ceremony

On Nov. 11, 2010 I had the privilege to address the students at Owen County High School about the importance of Veterans Day. Also in attendance were several Veterans and family members as well as many Owen County faculty and staff. Before the assembly, the Veterans and their family members were treated to a very delicious meal and a tour of the facility if they so desired.

I have attended hundreds of events all over the commonwealth while working for the Department of Agriculture and previous to this I was making appearances as a former contestant on the CBS show Survivor II, The Australian Outback all over the United States.

In all of my travels I have never been to a better planned event and the students were just great and showed great respect and admiration for the Veterans. It was one of the best events I have ever attended.

To the parents and staff of Owen County High School, you certainly have much to be proud of; and to the students, I say a special thanks to you, as it was evident to me that you realize the importance of Veterans Day here in the United States.
