Letter to the editor: Avoid heartache and just say ‘no’ to expanded sales

-A A +A

On July 26, Christ followers have a chance to vote “no” to alcohol sales and protect our children and grandchildren from further heartache and family turmoil. I see this every day in my practice  —  extended family taking care of children whose homes have been torn apart by drugs and alcohol. I fought to preserve my father’s dental building, and I am fighting to preserve our way of life. Our children deserve the right to also grow up in a community without alcohol sales on every corner.
The Apostle Peter writes “be sober.” That says enough but read on, “be sober, be vigilant: because your adversary, the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour.” (I Peter 5:8)
The prayer task force has been praying that he (the devil) may not devour the good people of Owen County. When will we rise up and say “enough is enough”? Ephesians 5:18 says, “be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the spirit.” I have been filled with the Holy Spirit for 29 years. My joy is in the Lord. He alone is my strength. Nehemiah 8:10. My joy is complete and I do not need a substitute made by human hands to be happy. Romans 14:17 says, “For the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost.”
I invite whosoever will to come and drink of his living water and thirst no more. John 4:14. I would be honored to pray for anyone who wants the in-filling of the Holy Spirit.
Join me in prayer and vote “No” to alcohol sales. Save the precious children of Owen County from further heartache on July 26.
