The seventh session of the Owen County Leadership Program, offered by the Owen County Extension Council, was held Oct. 21.
Joy Morgan served as the hostess and emcee for the night. She introduced our presenters for the night.
The participants wish to thank Joy for the snacks.
Ron Glenn and Ginny Cook began the class by talking about power and leadership in communities.
Kim Strohmeier, extension agent and entrepreneurial coach, and Jessi Williams, the Owen County extension agent for 4-H, did a presentation on a not-so-effective meetings.
Organizers said they were delighted to have Janet H. Johnson, a member of the Allen County Extension Service. She presented a program on planning and managing effective meetings, presenting subjects on what do meetings provide, how to have meetings, build group support, group phases for successful meetings, managing effective meetings, the difference between a chairperson and a facilitator, communication in meetings, listening is just as effective as talking, and strategies to enhance teamwork.
Strohmeier finished up the night by talking about “Great leaders are great storytellers.”
