Thanks to the Kentucky Education Commissioner, Owen County students will still get a couple of days of spring break.
The Owen County Board of Education met Monday and once again adjusted the school calendar for the remainder of the 2013-14 school year.
Owen County School Superintendent Rob Stafford said the board had applied to the Kentucky Department of Education to have the three days missed due to the waterline breaks in January excused.
Stafford said the district received a letter from Kentucky Education Commissioner Terry Holiday excusing the three days because they were beyond the school district’s control.
Spring break was originally scheduled for March 31-April 4, but Stafford said students will now be in class March 31, April 1 and April 2.
Spring break will now be April 3-4.
Students will also be out of class on Election Day, May 20 and Memorial Day, May 26.
The last day of school for students is now scheduled for June 6.
