To say Devin Jouett is playing well would be a bit of an understatement. In the last five games, she has nine goals. Her last four goals came in a 5-0 win over Ludlow last week. Jerusha Toole scored the other Lady Rebels’ goal in the win.
The win also saw Owen County produce a fine defensive effort. Coach Mike Haines credited the defensive line of Evyn White, Ciara McDaniel and Christina Johnson for playing a good game. Haines also complimented the defensive play of Mary Kennedy and Rachel Herring.
Coach Haines was also high on the play of newcomer Brittany McDonald. Haines said of McDonald, “She has not played much soccer, but she has picked it up very well.” McDonald put in valuable minutes against Ludlow due to Lady Rebels’ injuries.
Owen County returned to the field on Thursday night when they took on Mercer County. According to Coach Haines, “We did not play that badly. They capitalized on two defensive mistakes to get their goals.” Haines said his team had a couple of chances but could not capitalize, leading to the 2-1 loss. Jerusha Toole scored the Lady Rebels’ goal.
