With eight minutes to go. a win was within reach.
The Owen County Lady Rebels hosted Carroll County High School Friday night. It was the second meeting of the season between the two schools.
The Lady Panthers got the best of the Lady Rebels in Carrollton on Dec. 13 winning 57-37. It appeared for three quarters on Friday that Owen County might return the favor in Owenton.
Owen County played hard for the first three quarters but trailed 37-35 as the fourth quarter began.
With their first win on the season hanging in the balance, things did not go as well over the final eight minutes.
The Lady Rebels were unable to make shots as they were held without a field goal. Carroll County outscored Owen County 15-1 in the fourth quarter to win the game 52-36.
Owen County freshman Morgan Ellis led the Lady Rebels with 14 points while also pulling down nine rebounds. Fellow freshman Molly Gamble finished with 8 points to go along with six boards. Kaylee Miller and A.J. Gravely each added 4 points while Kendrah Ashby, Debbie Farrar and Macie Osborne contributed 2-points apiece.
The Lady Rebels were on the road on Saturday as they traveled to Crestwood to take on South Oldham High School. The Lady Dragons would knock off Owen County 66-30.
Owen County will next be in action Friday night at home against Oldham County High School.
They will be back on the bus again on Monday night as they play at Spencer County.
