The Owen County High School Lady Rebels spent last week facing off against a pair of rivals – one a 31st district foe and the other an eighth-region opponent.
The team began the week by traveling to New Castle to face off against Henry County. The two teams met April 10 in Owenton with the Lady Wildcats prevailing 15-6.
This game would also go down as a win for Henry County as they defeated Owen County 7-0.
The Lady Rebels quickly rebounded from the loss as they returned home on Tuesday to take on Western Hills. Owen County spent the previous weekend taking part in the Western Hills Invitational but ironically did not face the host school until they met in Owenton. The Lady Wolverines may have wished they would have avoided the Lady Rebels each one more day as Owen County came away with a 6-2 win.
Owen County then took on eighth-region foe Walton-Verona May 2 in the NCKC Tournament.
The Lady Rebels defeated the Lady Bearcats 3-0 April 15 in the Eighth Region All ‘A’ Classic.
Walton-Verona would exact some revenge with a 6-1 win over Owen County.
The loss dropped the Lady Rebels to 14-10 on the season.
Owen County will be back on the field today (Wednesday) at Boone County.
They will then travel to Lawrenceburg Friday to take part in the Anderson County Invitational where they will play the host school and Bullitt Central.
The Lady Rebels will then travel to Grant County on Tuesday night for a contest with the Lady Braves.
