For the Owen County softball team, last week began where the previous week ended.

After falling to Walton-Verona in the championship game of the 8th Region All “A” Classic, the Lady Rebels welcomed the Lady Bearcats to Owenton April 19 for the rematch.

It was all Owen County as the Lady Rebels scored 11 runs on 11 hits in defeating in the Lady Bearcats 11-1 in five innings.

Lady Rebel Miranda Owens allowed one run on just three hits while driving in three runs at the plate. Lyndsey Slayback also had three runs batted in.

The Lady Rebels then welcomed Gallatin County to Owenton Wednesday night. The game was a first-round match-up in the NCKC Fast Pitch Tournament.

This would be the fourth time these two teams met this season. Gallatin County won the first two games with the Lady Rebels defeating the Lady Wildcats April 17.

On Wednesday night, the Lady Rebels took a 6-2 lead into the seventh inning and then held on for dear life.

Katelyn Sutherland hit a pair of homeruns. The first was a solo shot in the first inning and the second was a two-run homer in the fourth. Kenzie Criswell also had a two-run double in the third inning.

The win seemed to be in the bag when the Lady Wildcats came to bat in the seventh inning, trailing by four runs. They would rally, however, for three runs to cut the deficit to 6-5 before Sutherland retired the final two batters leaving the tying run at second base.

The Lady Rebels looked to continue their winning ways Thursday as Williamstown paid a visit to Owenton.

The Lady Demons put three runs on the board in the first at bat to take a quick lead.

The Lady Rebels came back in their half of the inning to tie the game.

Owen County would repeat the feat with three more runs in the bottom of the third. The big hit in the inning was a two run double by Criswell.

Williamstown would score single runs in the fourth and the fifth, but Owen County scored eight runs as well over those two innings to take a 14-5 lead.

Williamstown would add another run to make the final score 14-6.

Criswell would finish the game with four runs batted in while Sutherland had three more RBI in the game. Courtney Waldrop scored four runs.

The winning streak ended over the weekend as the team traveled to the High Five Bullitt County Invitational.

The Lady Rebels dropped contests to Bullitt Central, Clinton County and Fern Creek.

After playing 12 games over the past two weeks the Lady Rebels will play just two games this week. They played at Trimble County Tuesday night before playing in the second round of the NCKC Fast Pitch Tournament. They will play at Spencer County Monday before returning home Tuesday night to host Trimble County.
