Owen countians may not realize it, but as they visit with friends and reminisce about the “good ole days,” or gather with relatives on holidays to celebrate family traditions, they preserve their heritage and the history of Owen County. This is most evident on Memorial Day when streets and dirt roads in the county are lined with cars, filled with people who carry flowers, crosses, and other items to place on the graves of loved ones who served their country in the armed services.
