Henry Lloyd Wainscott

Henry Lloyd Wainscott, 87, of Huntsville, Ala., and formerly of Owenton, died Feb. 18, 2009.

Born Sept. 24, 1921, in Owen County, he was the son of the late Elmer and Kate Shupert Wainscott.He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Greg Wainscott; and two sisters, Mildred Smith and Lois Watkins. Henry was a WWII Army veteran where he served as a medic. He was also an upholsterer and a member of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his  son, Elmer “Roy” Wainscott of Lewisburg, Tenn.; three daughters, Nancy Wainscott Edwards of Gurley, Ala., Merirae Wainscott Jackson of Lewisburg, Tenn., and Wanda Wainscott Williams of Pulaski, Tenn.; two sisters, Jessie Rae O’Leary of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Elizabeth Dunavent of Owenton; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were Elmer “Roy” Wainscott, John Jackson, Kenny Edwards, David Watkins, Jason Fitzwater, Jimmy Sutherland and Chase Perkins.  Honorary bearers were Jimmy Edwards, Bud Dunavent and Jack O’Leary.

Funeral services were Feb. 21, 2009, with Bro. David “Milkweed” Wotier presiding. Burial was in Owenton Cemetery.  

Memorial contributions may be made to Mussel Shoals Baptist Church.
