What do you get when you combine: giggling babies, pumpkins, rubber ducks, good food, and lots of sunshine – a perfect fall celebration.
On Oct. 10, HANDS families from Owen, Carroll, and Gallatin counties gathered to enjoy an event at the Owen County Park. Three Rivers staff members Candis Thornton, Ruth Kingkade, Debbie Dishon, and Jessica Beverly decorated the pavilion with hay bales, pumpkins, scarecrows, and flowers and used this array as a backdrop for pictures taken of each child and their family. The staff and HANDS coordinator, Allison Napier, warmed everyone up with homemade chili and served it steaming hot with crackers, sandwiches, and desserts.
HANDS is a program for first-time parents. It helps parents to fully enjoy their first child and appreciate the wonders of birth from prenatal development to 2 years of age.
If you are a first-time parent with a baby under 4 months of age or are expecting your first child, call Ruth Kingkade at (502)514-3077 or call your local health department for more information.
