A Golden Alert issued for a 70-year-old Owen County man was called off Sunday after the man was found on Hwy. 127.
Owen County Search and Rescue received notification of a missing man around 3:50 p.m. Sunday.
Dewey Cook had last been seen on Hwy. 127 South and Greenup Road.
Owen County Search and Rescue Capt. Jackie Webster said Cook had gone out hunting ginseng which he had done numerous times before.
Cook had been out Sunday morning, but the exact time the alert was issued wasn't available.
"He just got turned around and couldn't find his way back," Webster said.
Cook was found on the highway on what is known as Severn Bridge near Greenup Road.
Webster said Cook was in good condition when he made it out to the highway and was found.
"He was thirsty, he was hungry, but he was in pretty good shape," Webster said.
Owen County Search and Rescue, Owen County Sheriff's Office, Monterey Fire Department and Jonesville Fire Department assisted in the search. The Owen County Fire Department was on backup.
