As fireworks displays are being cancelled across Kentucky due to the sweltering heat and dry conditions, Owen County officials are warning residents about the dangers of fireworks during drought-like conditions.
A heat advisory was issued for Owen County by the National Weather Service nearly every day last week with temperatures often reaching the triple digits.
A heat advisory was once again issued Monday.
Owenton Fire Chief David Lilly said the use of fireworks in dry conditions can be a big headache for firefighters.
