Utility delivers grant money to Owen County emergency services

Kentucky American Water presented four $500 grants to the following Owen County fire departments yesterday at the Kentucky River Station II at Hardin’s Landing in Owen County.  In addition to the
presentations, attendees toured the facility and enjoyed lunch.
• Monterey Volunteer Fire Department - to purchase portable radios for new members. Radios will be compatible as required by the Federal Communications Commission.
• Owen County Volunteer Fire Department – to support the purchase of tablets with software to store county maps and addresses, hydrant locations, emergency phone numbers and hazardous materials information.
• Owen County Search and Rescue – to purchase plastic stokes basket to use in rescues.
• Owenton Volunteer Fire Department – to purchase computer for use in field.
Owen County Judge Carolyn Keith, Owenton Mayor Doug West and State Rep. Royce Adams, D-Dry Ridge, attended the presentation as well as Kentucky American Water President Cheryl Norton. State Sen. Damon Thayer, D-Georgetown, was unable to attend due to a conflicting meeting in Frankfort, but sent his congratulations and thanks to all the fire departments and shared his appreciation with the company for offering the grant program.
