Class will help people get control of finances

By The Staff

Is one of your New Year’s resolutions going to be getting your finances in order?
By the end of the month, do you wonder where your money has gone?
Does it always feel as if there’s too much month left at the end of your money?
If the answer to any of these questions is “Yes,” then it’s time to bring your checkbook back into control by attending Financial Peace University.
Hope's Hands Community Partnership, Monterey Baptist Church and Epoch Fellowship will sponsor the 13-week Financial Peace University, made popular by Dave Ramsey, beginning Jan. 17.
On average, families who participate in FPU and save $2,700 in the first 90 days and go on to pay off $53,000 in debt. In today's tight economy, making even small changes in your financial lifestyle can make a big difference in your peace of mind.
Lessons offered include: "Super Saving;" "Relating with Money;" "Cash Flow Planning;" "Dumping Debt;" "Credit Sharks in Suits;" "Buyer Beware;" "Clause and Effect;" "That's Not Good Enough;" "Of Mice and Mutual Funds;" "From Fruition to Tuition;" "Working in Your Strengths;" "Real Estate and Mortgages;" and "The Great Misunderstanding."
Classes are for families, singles, older adults, teenagers, anyone who wants to get their finances in order.
The classes will be held at The Wild Goose Café, Epoch's meeting location, at 6:30 p.m. each Monday night starting that week. An informational meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 10 in the same location for those interested in learning more about the classes before they begin.  The Wild Goose Café is located at 159 W. Seminary St., between NorthKey and Spurgeon Law Offices.
The cost to participate will depend on the number of people who choose to participate and any specials offered by Financial Peace University at the time the classes begin, but will be no more than $100 per family. Sponsorships may be available. If you are unable to purchase your kit but are serious about getting a handle on your finances, please contact Patti Clark at 514-3478 for scholarship opportunities.
