Sign up for the 2011 Direct and Counter-cyclical Program for producers with corn, sorghum, soybean, and wheat bases by June 1.
Producers are encouraged to visit the Farm Service Center to complete their 2011 DCP contract.
USDA computes DCP Program payments using base acres and payment yields established for each farm. Eligible producers receive direct payments at rates established by statute regardless of market prices.
Signatures of all producers receiving a share in DCP payments are required by the June 1 deadline. It is important for producers to stop by the office before June 1 to complete required paperwork.
Farmers are encouraged to stop by the Owen County Farm Service Agency to make their annual report.
For any producers raising small grains, the last day to report those is May 31. Deadline for all other crops is July 15.
Livestock indemnity program
The Livestock Indemnity Program offers livestock owners and contract growers compensation for livestock death losses in excess of normal mortality due to adverse weather. Adverse weather events include losses due to lightning, floods, hurricanes, blizzards, wildfires, extreme heat and extreme cold.
To be eligible for LIP, an owner’s livestock must: have died as a direct result of an eligible adverse weather event occurring between Jan. 1, 2008, and Oct. 1, 2011. Producers must submit a notice of loss within 30 calendar days after the loss of livestock was apparent to the producer.
