Owen County Fair and Horse Show goes into full swing

By The Staff

Many changes have taken place with the Owen County Fair this year.

If you been by the fairgrounds lately, you will see construction going on.

The fair board received a grant to renovate the existing exhibit building as well as adding a new addition. The new addition will have a kitchen, meeting room, storage area and an office.

Also, three additional directors were added to the board: Melissa Bourne, Stephanie Howard and Lindsey Tirey.

This year’s fair will begin Friday with a Froggy Field II Party that includes a concert featuring Josh Thompson, Ashley Rae, and Six Miles South. Tickets are on sale at all Cowboys for $20. At the gate, tickets will be $25.

Weekly passes for the fair are on sale for $25. The passes are just good for gate entrance – no rides.

Passes can be purchased at Minch’s Hardware, North Park, or the Owen County Extension Service office; or they can be purchased from Noel True, Mark Baldwin, or FaDana Bramblett by calling 484-5598.

If you plan to ride, you will need to pay $8 at the gate. This includes gate price plus the rides’ cost.

If you had a box seat last year and want to purchase the same seat again this year, call FaDana Bramblett and let her know. Box seats cost $25 for a year.

The Kissel’s Carnival will be the carnival for this year. They will be bringing as many as 12 rides plus games.
