Dr. Henry Lamar Adams

Dr. Henry Lamar Adams, 90, died at his home Aug. 22, 2008. He was born Nov. 26, 1917, to Henry Albert Adams and Frances Jirels Adams. Henry graduated valedictorian from high school in Owenton in 1934. He completed his B.A. at the University of Kentucky in 1938. He married his college sweetheart, Frances Elois Sadler, on Aug. 24, 1941. Their only child, Catherine Lamar Adams, was born on Feb. 23, 1943.

Henry Adams served in both WWII and the Korean War. He completed his M.A. at the University of Kentucky in 1946. In 1955, he completed his Ph.D. at the University of Illinois. He retired from the armed services in 1977 at the rank of Lt. Colonel.

He retired from Western Washington College with emeritus status in 1979 but continued teaching part-time until retiring completely in 1986.

Dr. Adams was predeceased by his two brothers, and is survived by his wife, Frances, their daughter, Catherine Shaw, and two granddaughters, Dr. Tara Shaw, M.D. and Dr. Sara Shaw, D.V.M.
