Della L. Jones, 106, died July 14, 2009, at Grant Manor Health Care Center in Williamstown.
Mrs. Della Jones was a retired teacher/librarian for Owen County Schools; a Kentucky Colonel; the last surviving member of Oggs Chapel C.M.E. Church in Williamstown; and a member of the Retired Teachers Association. She received a “Doctor of Humane Letters” degree from Kentucky State University this past May.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Sarah Jackson Lewis; and her husband, Bradley Jones.
Survivors include a niece, Helen Johnson of Cincinnait, Ohio; two great-nieces, Jeanete Bronson and Billi Johnson both of Cincinnati, Ohio; five cousins, Mary Warrick of Dayton, Ohio, Thelma Harris of Highland Heights, James Harris of Cold Springs, Norma Lartigue of Dayton, Ohio, and Ted Gilbert of Dayton, Ohio; one great-great-nephew; and three great-great-nieces.
Funeral services were held July 18, 2009, at Williamstown United Methodist Church. Burial was in Williamstown Cemetery.
