Deadline nears for 2012 corn, sorghum, soybean, and wheat base payments

-A A +A

Sign-up for the 2012 Direct and Counter-cyclical Program for producers with corn, sorghum, soybean, and wheat bases will continue through June 1.
Producers are encouraged to visit the farm service center to complete their 2012 DCP contract.  USDA computes DCP Program payments using base acres and payment yields established for each farm.
Eligible producers receive direct payments at rates established by statute regardless of market prices.
Signatures of all producers receiving a share in DCP payments are required by the June 1st deadline. It is important producers to stop by the office before June 1 to complete required paperwork.

Crop reporting
Farmers are encouraged to stop by the Owen County Farm Service Agency to make their annual report.
For any producers raising small grains your last day to report those is May 31.
Deadline for all other crops is July 15. Exception: Crops insured through NAP must report the earlier of: 15 calendar days before the onset of harvest or grazing, or July 15.

Corn final plant date
Producers with RMA crop insurance are reminded that May 31 is established as the final plant date for corn. Corn planted after that date will incur a late penalty on the amount of coverage.
