The daughter of Owen County Sheriff Zemer Hammond has been arrested after she allegedly attempted to shoot her father.

Heather Hammond, 37, was arrested Thursday by Kentucky State Police Post 5 Trooper Dave Roberts.
According to a press release, preliminary investigation shows Heather Hammond allegedly pointed a loaded weapon at her father while at his home in Corinth. When she attempted to shoot, the weapon jammed and would not fire.

Kentucky State Police Post 5 Public Affairs Officer Brad Arterburn said the incident reportedly took place Oct. 5, but was not disclosed until a later date.

Heather Hammond is being charged with attempted murder and wanton endangerment. According to the Carroll County Detention Center's website, where she is being lodged, she is also charged with disorderly conduct.

Trooper Roberts is leading the ongoing investigation.

Zemer Hammond's son, Joshua Hammond, was arrested and charged with murder, first-degree robbery, first-degree assault and tampering with physical evidence after he and two other men allegedly strangled a Frankfort man to death before dumping his body along the Interstate 64 east-bound ramp at U.S. 127 in Frankfort. Joshua Hammond is lodged at the Franklin County Regional Jail on a $500,000 full cash bond.
